ABOUT US
SCNTE, located in Dayton, Ohio, is a manufacturer of unprecedented high purity CNTs (SCNRs)
for industrial and research applications. This consistent high purity product enables end-users
to optimally utilize CNTs (SCNRs) in their applications at a competitive cost. SCNTE produces
CNTs (SCNRs) in various forms, including bulk clusters, dispersed clusters, and substrate
attached CNT (SCNR) arrays. We are also the first company in the world to offer a standard
dimensioned (0.25" diameter,5" long body), ready to use CNT (SCNR) array electrode (NanoC-Pro™ Electrode).
THE COMPANY
SCNTE was founded in response to the inconsistencies in quality and supply that exists within
the current CNT market. The R&D group of SCNTE wanted to utilize CNTs within their research
activities and was unable to procure high quality tubes to optimize their application. As a
result, they began research activities on the development of high quality CNTs. The resulting
CNT manufacturing process, Carbo-Thermal Carbide Conversion, produces consistent high quality
tubes (SCNRs) at a scalable volume. Ultra-high purity is achieved via CTCC because no transition
metal catalysts are used in CNT growth. A secondary benefit of this process is the near complete
lack of amorphous carbon due to catalyst inefficiency and spontaneous hydrocarbon decomposition. While
the cost for SCNTE CNTs (SCNRs) is very competitive within the market, we drastically reduce the
final cost to our customers by eliminating the purification processes necessary on other manufacturers'
CNTs and providing a consistent product.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to provide carbon nanotubes that will enable manufacturers and researchers to significantly
advance the performance and technical specifications of their products and work. While we envision
an infinite number of future applications for CNTs, the current market includes hydrogen storage,
sensors, fuel cells, batteries, and electromagnetic shielding. Companies using SCNTE tubes in their
applications will realize significant cost savings compared to other CNTs as a result of our high
purity. These cost savings will come from the total purchased cost of the product, as well as the
ability to eliminate in-house post purification processing. This cost savings, coupled with technical
performance that meets the market's expectations will allow for the further development of advanced
materials technology. Furthermore, CNTs (SCNRs) and electrodes from SCNTE are consistent from lot to
lot and electrode to electrode – a feature not possible when using CVD or arc discharge CNTs.
